Animal Testing Policy

Beiersdorf does not perform experiments on animals in order to assess the
safety or efficacy of our cosmetic products - NIVEA, ATRIXO and EUCERIN.

Beiersdorf has developed in-vitro experiments using cell cultures to measure irritation potential. Our Research and Development departments are using this in-vitro method for the safety assessment of ingredients and finished products and are continuously investigating new in-vitro methods as part of an international research program. Therefore no laboratory animals are used during the development of Beiersdorf cosmetics.

The issue regarding ingredients is more complex, as there are hardly any
ingredients which have not been tested at sometime, somewhere, by somebody in an animal experiment. The data required for the identification of health hazards of raw materials is taken wherever possible from scientific literature or databases available in the public domain.

European, International and some country specific legislation, however,
requires data which in certain cases can only be obtained in animal studies
for the risk and safety assessment of certain ingredients and in particular
for medicines or medical devices and their ingredients.

Within the Cosmetics Industry there is a point of view that if a cosmetic
product or ingredient has not been tested in the last 5 years, then it is
acceptable to claim "not tested on animals". [color=red]Beiersdorf do not adopt this point of view and prefer not to make any claim which could be considered as misleading.[/color]

Wow, zanimiva odločitev. Torej boš dala vse iz sive liste kar na črno? No, saj mogoče res pravilno. Poleg tega se tudi bela lista daljša, tako da imamo končno možnost izbire.

UG84: se strinjam, da je sivi seznam nesmiseln, ampak kje pa so zdaj podjetja, ki so bila na njem? Manhattna npr. ne najdem na črni listi.
